Hey, mumshies! It’s me again, your millennial mother on social media.
I can’t believe I’ve reached almost a full year of blogging. Initially, my YouTube Channel was just for vlogs and memory keeping but it has grown to become a little mom vlogger channel and I am addicted in making new content. My blogging journey will not be made possible without the guidance and help of the Davao Bloggers Society, they have taught me so much about the blogging world and all it’s great perks. Blogging has become my new creative output where I can focus some part of my energy (or energy left from having 2 kids!) into readable material for moms who are going through the same experiences I have conquered.
Last December 1, Davao Bloggers Society had their Safari Night Christmas Party and it was terrifying for a new blogger to be the night’s host. If you know me personally, you know that I am always the crazy, noisy and annoying person in the group, but because I’m shy (sort of shy) I tend to keep myself private when meeting a new crowd. Weeks before the big night, I found out that I was nominated in a few categories such as Favorite New Blog, Most Outstanding Newbie, and Best Single Post awards. This was surprising to know since I wasn’t really sure if people even read my blogs, and now I am a nominee for such awards.
As the program started, we were to announce the first winner of the night. This was for the Most Outstanding Newbie where I was a nominee. I shared this nomination with two other bloggers, Nep-C Ledesma and Shannen Adlaon. Both bloggers were great writers and have their fair share of good moments with other bloggers. I was trying to read my script when my name was called to receive the award, I was surprised! I didn’t expect to win that award since I did’t consider myself as Outstanding for that year, I went to a few events and attended meetings but nothing to be called outstanding. I guess the decision makers saw something that I missed. I was excited to accept my award since I was the first one to receive a trophy from House of Wooden Letters.
The Special Category awards were being announced and Ria Jose was about to award the winner for Favorite New Blog. I shared that nomination with a fellow blogger named Emmanuel Alba who has blogged longer than I have and gained more experiences that I did. I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to win that award since Emmanuel is also a good writer but to my surprise, I won the award. At this point, I was overwhelmed. I didn’t know my simple blog about motherhood will interest the judges and be part of their list.
The Best Single Post awards were being called one by one and I have been nominated for 4 awards. I was not sure about winning from the 4 categories but I was able to win the Best Vlog Diary Post for my Day in the Life of Mom video. If you want to watch that video, I will link it here.
I am humbled with the support I got from my fellow bloggers but I owe all my awards and recognition to my husband Sean. He has been very supportive since day 1, from buying my first vlogging camera, to watching the kids while I attend events, helping me with my new blog layout (check it out btw) and so much more. I would not be able to continue doing what I love to do without his never ending support.
To answer the question for the Davao Bloggers Society Safari Night Christmas Blog Contest: What’s your best DBS Safari Night Christmas moment? I will refer them to the photo above. My best moment was to be standing beside the other winners from the Blog Awards and be part of the “winner’s circle”. Most of these bloggers have been blogging for years and I didn’t imagine to accept an award that night with my lack of experience as a blogger.
I will forever cherish my awards not only because they are special to my heart but because they look so good! I cannot get over how amazing the awards were made! These awards were made by House of Wooden Letters.

That’s it for today’s blog! Congratulations to all the winners!
I made a short vlog about what happened that day. Hope you’ll watch it!
